ÖHLINS NEW PRODUCTS FOR MT-07/ XSR, SCRAMBLER, HYPERSPORT AND SMALL CAPACITY SPORTS BIKES

November 27 2015.

Öhlins has unveiled a truly diverse range, with new products for some of the most popular new models, as well as offering suspension upgrades for the small capacity supersport sector, alongside even more options to back up its ground breaking Harley-Davidson ‘Blackline’ collection.

New Cartridge Kit for MT-07 / XSR models
New for 2016 Öhlins launch the Road and Track NIX 22 front cartridge kit. Developed from the successful NIX 30 kit used in Supersport machines for track and road, Öhlins now have bespoke applications of this more compact version to fit the well-received Yamaha MT-07 and XSR700 models. Owners of these machines can now upgrade both ‘ends’ of their machine with the front kit matching the cost effective Street Performance STX46 rear shock option. Also available for these models; a FSK100 front spring set.

Front suspension upgrades used to be considered the reserve of race and trackday riders but now riders of all machines can benefit from good handling, bump absorption and crucially a positive, confidence inspiring feeling from the ‘front end’. The NIX 22 delivers fantastic road performance and comfort through stable damping characteristics, resulting in improved rider confidence.

Just like the NIX 30, the ‘22’ has the Öhlins proven “NIX” design which features compression damping in the left leg and rebound damping in the right leg, giving a more precise function. Adjustments are made at the top of the fork, together with the spring preload, all designed to make alternation as easy as possible. The cartridge system is easy to install in all standard front forks.

Upgrades for latest generation ’small capacity supersport machines’
Öhlins also offer a bespoke version of the Road and Track NIX 22 front cartridge kit for the exciting and fast growing, small capacity sport bike sector. Perfect for the new wave of ’pocket rockets’, this new application can transform the ride of models such as the Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha YZF-R3.

With a Street Performance STX46 rear shock already available for these models, these mini race-replicas can now ride as well as they look!

Yamaha YZF-R1M Öhlins Smart EC steering damper
The technologically brilliant Yamaha YZF-R1M can now benefit from an ‘intelligent’ Öhlins Smart EC steering damper upgrade. The bike features one of the most technologically-advanced electronic suspension systems ever produced for a production road bike, with forks, shock and software all supplied by Öhlins. Now, R1M owners can complete their bike's handling package.

The Smart EC damper plugs into the bike’s existing Suspension Control Unit (SCU) to make ultra-fast changes in damping, based on parameters that include speed and acceleration. The well-proven qualities of the Öhlins steering damper are complemented by the bespoke Smart EC algorithms, which alter damping settings in real time, to suit the current riding conditions.

Harley-Davidson range extended with new cartridge kits
Following the successful introduction of last year’s Harley-Davidson ’Blackline’ range of shocks, Öhlins launch a front fork cartridge kit for the popular Dyna and Sportster models. Now owners of these famous American cruisers can transform and improve the ride of these machines with a combined front and rear end upgrade, whilst retaining and enhancing the aesthetics of the original machine.

The NIX22 (22mm cartridge kit) has been developed to give great feedback, support the bike under braking and absorb the shocks associated with varied road riding. Like Öhlins shock entry into this market in 2014, the emphasis on these custom applications has been on smooth ride comfort and high quality.

Ducati Scrambler- Öhlins add suspension performance to style
Owners of the ultra-stylish Ducati Scrambler can now upgrade the suspension characteristics of their machine with a new front spring upgrade, (the FSK100) to match the existing, cost effective Street Performance STX46 rear shock. The new spring kit offers a noticeable improvement in handling, rider comfort and performance under braking.

The FSK100 upgrade consists of a replacement top cap (with external spring preload) and higher performance rate springs. The replacement springs provide the rider with a firmer front end feel and support during braking.

Robert Brinkmark, Öhlins Product Manager Motorcycles commented: “We had fantastic feedback at the recent EICMA show to our extended range, which again illustrated that our product development across all segments of motorcycling, not just our core hypersport market, have been very important.

"Models such as the Yamaha MT-07 and Ducati Scrambler give us a chance to develop products that improve the ride on these stylish new machines and give riders from a wider background the chance to experience the ‘Öhlins effect’. The same can be said for the ever growing small sports bike range, these bikes really benefit from upgraded suspension and riders are looking to improve their machines to match the handling performance of their bigger brothers such as the Ninja ZX-10R and Yamaha YZF-R1.We are also pleased to announce new products for the different Harley Davidson models and extend our product range for these bikes”
