INAUGURAL SCOOTER EXPO HITS THE SPOT

August 9th, 2019.

The first ScooterExpo event organised jointly by ScooterNova Magazine and ScooterLab UK was decreed a resounding success.

Some 98 custom scooters, classic machines, restorations, oddballs, choppers and street racers lined up to wow the masses. These ranged from a rare 1949 Douglas Vespa and 1949 Lambretta Model B right up to customised machines that were so freshly finished the paint was almost soft to touch. A range of custom scooters, spanning the last 35 years or so, also attracted people from all over the UK to see some iconic machines that had not been out in public for decades.

Alongside the glitz and glamour of the machines, companies like event sponsors Lexham Insurance and Putoline Motorcycle Oils lined up with brand such as Casa Lambretta, GranTurismo, Targa Twin, Malossi, Polini and Pinasco.

Will ScooterExpo return next year then? The two organisers, Andy Gillard (ScooterNova magazine) and Iggy Grainger (SLUK) have not ruled it out but want to let the dust settle from this one first. “Response from visitors and traders from all over the country both on the day and subsequently has been so positive and encouraging, that we are already looking at a follow-up event,” said Gillard. “As for another ScooterExpo next year, there are a few ideas we are playing around with plus a little fine tuning to do, but I think the overall opinion is that no one knows how to put on a good scooter event better than scooterists themselves. So…. watch this space!”
