MASON MAKING MOVES IN 2017 ROOKIES’ TROPHY

July 4th, 2017.

Following his best dry race results of the year so far at Knockhill, Stauff Connect Academy’s Mason Law has leapt to the top of the 2017 R&G Rookies’ Trophy standings, leading a KTM Cup duo of Brian Hart and Fenton Harrison Seabright, who are joint on points and just six behind Law.

Alongside the £500 cash, £500 product support and an LS2 crash helmet, the overall winner of the 2017 R&G Rookies’ Trophy will receive a set of race tyres from the Official Tyre Supplier to the MCE British Superbike Championship, Pirelli. This will include either the Diablo Slick tyres used solely in the blue-riband Superbike class, or the road-legal Diablo Supercorsa tyres used in the support classes.

Open to all competitors riding their first full season in their respective class, points are awarded based on the rider’s performance compared to their fellow rookies in the class, irrespective of the overall finishing position.

Following the win in the wet at Oulton Park, Mason Law cemented his position as one of the stars of tomorrow with two hard-fought fourth places in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 races at Knockhill; his best dry race results of the season so far. With the Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup riders not racing at Knockhill, previous leaders Levi Day and Joe Collier have slipped back to fifth and sixth.

Having claimed a stunning maiden podium in the Superstock 600 class at his local circuit, followed up with an incredible tenth in the Supersport class – despite using his Superstock bike – Ryan Watson was named our R&G Rookie of the Meeting for Knockhill and will receive a set of our Aero Knee Sliders in a special presentation at Snetterton this weekend.

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett added: “Mason Law has continued to improve with each round and that’s now reflected with him leading the way in our Rookies’ Trophy. That said, there’s still a very long way to go until the final round at Brands Hatch and with the Ducati Cup guys back in action at Snetterton this weekend, it will be interesting to see who’ll come out on top after what’s sure to be another action-packed weekend of racing.”
