THE TT VISITS THE WHEATSHEAF

July 31 2014.

A TT Riders’ Association fund raising event grew from a pub quiz to full blown TT paddock in a car park. Malc Wheeler reports:

On hearing that I had been made president of the TTRA, my local, the Wheatsheaf in Louth, Lincolnshire, offered to raise some funds for the TT Riders’ Association. Lyn Procter, the landlady, and Jim Blanchard, her partner are in to racing, so there I was thinking a nice pub quiz with a TT theme; Jim had bigger ideas.

After months of planning the day arrived and what a day it turned out to be. With a mini TT paddock, some very exotic machinery, TT stars Roger Marshall, Alex George, Steve Plater, Jim Curry and the TT’s fastest newcomer, Pete Hickman, plus radio and TV presenter Andy Kershaw in attendance, what is normally a quite pub car park was buzzing all day long.

Journalist and TV presenter Tony Carter did the honours with the interviews and also showed he is a talented auctioneer.

In total the event raised over £5,700 and the money is still coming in.
