DUNLOP ENJOYS MORE ROAD RACING SUCCESS AT SOUTHERN 100

July 18th, 2022.

A month after winning every solo race at the Isle of Man TT, Dunlop tyres were the choice for several victories at the Southern 100, including a dominant race week for Milenco by Padgetts Honda rider Davey Todd (pictured above).

Based on the 4.25-mile Billown Course at the southern tip of the Isle of Man, this year’s Southern 100 attracted many star riders from the TT a month ago, including Davey Todd and Michael Dunlop. On his 1000cc and 600cc bikes, Todd won five of the seven Superbike and Supersport races over the course of the week, and finished on the podium in the other two.

One of Todd’s successes was in the feature Solo Championship race on Thursday 14 July, held over nine laps. A tight battle in a highly competitive field culminated in the Honda rider crossing the line just 0.061 seconds in the lead. The 600cc races were arguably even closer; in one, Michael Dunlop led a top four separated by under seven-tenths of a second.

In the Supertwin class, meanwhile, Rob Hodson was the man to beat with his Dafabet Racing Kawasaki.

Dunlop riders used the fully slick KR109 front and KR108 rear tyres in the 1000cc Superbike class, and the treaded D213 GP Pro in the Supersport and Supertwin categories.

Pat Walsh, Event Leader Road Racing, Dunlop: “Thank you to every team and rider who chose Dunlop tyres for the Southern 100, and especially congratulations to Davey Todd, Michael Dunlop and Rob Hodson for their wins. All three riders and their teams should be proud of their successes in a highly competitive field that shares the spirit of the Isle of Man TT. To win with both our slick KR tyres and treaded D213 GP Pro specification underlines the performance of our road racing range.”
