As GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd exhibited at EES Europe in Munich last week, parent company GS Yuasa Corporation announced a major breakthrough in sustainable energy: a GS Yuasa lithium-ion battery energy storage system, complete with a 2MWh power conditioning system (PCS), has gone live at Honda Motor Co., Ltd.’s Hosoe Outboard Engine Plant in Japan.Developed for Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation (TGES), the system integrates seamlessly with on-site solar generation and supports Honda’s renewable energy goals. The technology is not only a win for carbon reduction in Japan—it also signals what’s possible for industrial energy users across the world seeking greater energy independence and grid resilience. ?
The installation features GS Yuasa’s domestically manufactured lithium-ion batteries alongside a separate PCS unit, making it exceptionally compact and easy to transport—even into tight spaces like factories and urban solar sites. It offers flexible system design, minimal installation disruption, and does not require large cranes or special vehicles. ?
“Our lithium-ion systems are proving to be a reliable backbone for businesses looking to stabilise energy use while integrating renewables,” said Eiichiro Kato at GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd. “This latest success with Honda demonstrates how our technology—built for safety, flexibility and long-term value—can be replicated here in Europe. From manufacturing to energy providers, it’s a practical solution for the growing demand for grid support and decarbonisation.”
