MCIA APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF TECHNICAL & REGULATORY AFFAIRS

April 6th, 2020.

The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) has announced the appointment of Mark Fowler, as Head of Technical & Regulatory Affairs.

Mark’s arrival is timely, as the MCIA is currently engaged in protecting its members’ interests during the Coronavirus outbreak and the EU exit, as well as gaining clarity from government about the phase out of Euro 4 vehicles, due at the end of this year.

The role of Head of Technical & Regulatory Affairs is a newly created position within the MCIA, reporting directly to the MCIA's CEO, Tony Campbell. The role’s primary objective is to support MCIA members and provide them with expert advice and guidance in areas including whole vehicle standards, components and PPE regulation. Previously, this area of expertise was outsourced to an external agency, but the MCIA feels it is now appropriate that this is brought in-house.

Tony Campbell commented; “?The MCIA’s members look to us to lobby government in order to protect our industry and to provide advice and guidance when new regulation and legislation is introduced. In our constantly changing environment it is vital that we are always ahead of the game with technical regulation matters and consequently I am very pleased to welcome Mark to the team”.

Mark is well equipped for his new position, having spent five years in a senior technical role at the Government’s Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA). Prior to this he enjoyed success in a variety of technical positions with high profile automotive and aeronautical companies at locations around the world. He started his career as an airframes technical expert with the RAF.
