The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) has launched an interactive heatmap revealing the substantial economic and employment contributions of the moped, motorcycle and powered light vehicle sector in England and Wales. The visualisation highlights the sector’s significant impact in local economies, providing essential data to support the industry's
Manifesto for a Thriving & Sustainable UK Powered Light Vehicle Sector. The heatmap also includes information on the number of motorcycle training providers and registered vehicles in each parliamentary constituency.
The MCIA is calling on parliamentary candidates in key moped, motorcycling and urban mobility regions to support local jobs and business resilience by signing the
Powered Light Vehicle Pledge. Candidates from six different political parties have already endorsed the pledge, demonstrating cross-party support for the sector which has 1.5 million active users and 5 million licence holders.
The Pledge commits candidates to “champion a thriving and sustainable powered light vehicle sector that fosters innovation, drives economic growth, and promotes efficient transport, thereby making Britain a global leader in powered light mobility.
MCIA CEO Tony Campbell said: “The heatmap illustrates the immense contribution of the sector to the health of business and communities throughout the country.
"It underlines the relevance of our Manifesto for a Thriving & Sustainable UK Powered Light Vehicle Sector to hundreds of candidates in constituencies where our sector is driving employment and growth.
"Signing MCIA’s Powered Light Vehicle Pledge should be a “no brainer” for parliamentary candidates of every party ahead of this election.
"If you support local jobs, back your local economy, and advocate a modern, dynamic transport network, then you must champion the moped, motorcycle, and entire powered light vehicle sector.”
