MT HELMETS-MSi – PORTUGUESE GP PREVIEW

March 24th, 2023.

This weekend sees the start of the 2023 Moto3 World Championship season, where Oxford-backed MT Helmets-MSi is ready to fight in its second year, following positive pre-season tests.

Last weekend, from the 17th to the 19th of March, the official tests took place in Portimao, where Diogo Moreira proved to be one of the strongest riders on the Moto3 grid and Syaryfuddin Azman adapted very well to the KTM.

Diogo was one of the fastest riders in the test, topping the standings on the second day, setting a time of 1'48.353. On the third day the times were down on the previous day, and the Brazilian rider was in the top 10 overall. This season Moreira has an even clearer line of work than in 2022; he is counting on being one of the fastest and having a dream season with MTHelmets-MSi.

Syarifuddin Azman "Damok", starts his career in the Moto3 World Championship with a lot of enthusiasm and this has been evident in the tests at Portimao. In each of the sessions, the Malaysian rider made a step forward on his KTM, with 1'47.778 being his best lap time and also placing him in the Top10 of the standings.

MTHelmets-MSi and its riders, Moreira and Azman, will start the first Grand Prix of the season with the same idea and guideline as always: effort, motivation and enthusiasm.

Jordi Gatell- TEAM MANAGER - "We are really looking forward to the 2023 season. Following a great 2022, we have worked harder than ever to maintain the level or even improve it this season. It won't be easy, but we believe in the potential of our rider Diogo Moreira and all the work we have done with him this pre-season. Without a doubt, we have some big challenges ahead of us and we will have to do our best to tackle them successfully. Looking ahead to Portimao, we hope to start by scoring a lot of points. Regarding Damok, following a positive surprise with his performance, we hope it will be a rookie season of learning and progression, working together with his teammate".

Diogo Moreira - "I am very happy with the tests. We tried a lot of things on the bike and did a lot of laps on our own, which was important for this preseason. We still have a lot to learn, but for the first race of the season I hope to enjoy it a lot and learn from it."

Syarifuddin Azman - "First of all I am very happy to be with the MTHelmets-MSi team and also with the hard work during testing. I have improved a lot during the preseason and I feel more comfortable with my new bike, understanding it more and more. I am looking forward to the next season and to the first race."
