NATIONAL MOTOS TAKE DUNLOP VICTORY AT 8 HOURS OF SEPANG

December 17th, 2019.

In a rain-affected FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) 8 Hours of Sepang at the weekend, the #55 National Motos team secured top honours in the Dunlop Independent Trophy (DIT).

Riding the Honda CBR 1000 RR, Valentin Debise and Hikari Okubo benefited from the Dunlop wet weather tyres to overcome the challenging weather conditions.

The #41 Rac 41 Honda CBR 1000 RR and the #4 Tati Team Beaujolais Racing Kawasaki ZX 10R finished second and third in the DIT respectively.

The DIT provides support to the privateer teams with financial incentives and Dunlop’s tyre technology. With a total amount of €140,000 in prize money awarded over the 2019-20 season, this financial incentive helps privateer teams compete with manufacturers.

Podium finish for BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team
In the overall manufacturer-orientated race, utilising Dunlop’s wet weather tyre technology, the #37 BMW Motorrad Team were able to make it back to back podium finishes on-board the BMW S1000RR after stunning rides from Ilya Mykhalchyk and Markus Reiterberger.

Roland Wozniak, International Event Manager, Dunlop Motorsport says: “The inaugural 8 hours of Sepang was challenging, the Dunlop wet weather tyre helped the BMW Motorrad Team to a second consecutive overall podium as well as giving the DIT teams the technology to be competitive throughout the 8 hours.”

After the dramatic first-ever 8 hours of Sepang, Dunlop teams Suzuki SERT, BMW Motorrad EWC and Wojcik Racing Team leave Malaysia in the top three positions in the championship.

The next round of the 2019-20 EWC season heads to France for the 24 Heures Motos on the 18-19 April.
