Oxford’s evergreen MD Andrew Hammond completed the London marathon in a highly respectable time of 4:36:32, overcoming a bout of Covid and a classic flare-up of runner’s Plantar Fasciitus along the way.More importantly, he raised over £4,500 for Special Effect, an Oxfordshire-based charity which helps physically disabled people to use adaptive technology for communication and leisure, bringing about much-needed independence.
“They do a fantastic job, changing the lives of so many people. So please give generously by visiting my JustGiving page at

“At the grand old age of 50, that was my first ever marathon… and probably my last!”.
