THE MCIA APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF POLICY & PUBLIC AFFAIRS

July 6th, 2021.

The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) has appointed Alfie Brierley to the position of “Head of Policy and Public Affairs”.

The role was previously outsourced, but the MCIA says that bringing the crucial role back in-house will allow it to be more effective and ensure a more co-ordinated approach to political lobbying.

Brierley joins the MCIA with extensive lobbying experience across public transport, automotive, rail and urban mobility.

Commenting on his new appointment, Brierley said; “The policy and political environments MCIA members are operating in, though challenging, present huge opportunities to showcase the significant role our sector can, and is playing in decarbonisation, a green, economic recovery and urban mobility ecosystems fit for the future. I’m delighted to be joining the MCIA, and excited to help members in seizing these opportunities, whilst also overcoming industry challenges."

Tony Campbell, CEO of the MCIA added; “It gives us great pleasure to announce Alfie’s arrival, whom I am sure will quickly settle in his new role and get up to speed working on MCIA and Industry priorities. Upon joining MCIA, it became immediately apparent that our lobby had lost impetus where old ideas and opinions were creating barriers rather than openings. This approach was replaced by the Route to Tomorrow’s Journeys position/policy paper, which has not just resonated with Government but led the way for the sector. Alfie joining MCIA will turbo boost our efforts where I am confident progress on the political front will be far more progressive than in the past, resulting in the sector having an up to date and fresh approach to policy and government affairs.”
