TOP RIDERS “VERY SATISFIED” WITH DUNLOP TYRES AHEAD OF CIV SEASON

April 4th, 2024.

Leading riders have praised the range of Dunlop tyres on offer ahead of the new Dunlop CIV (Campionato Italiano Velocità) season, which gets underway this weekend at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

This season, Dunlop strengthens its partnership with the Italian championship. Having previously supplied tyres to the Superbike, Moto3 and Pre-Moto3 classes, Dunlop is now also the exclusive tyre partner to the SuperSport 600NG and SuperSport 300 classes, supporting rising talent at all levels.

In a recent pre-season test at Misano, riders from various classes were impressed with the range of tyres provided by Dunlop. Yamaha DMR Racing’s Alessandro Delbianco, who races in the top Superbike category, said: “I am very satisfied with the new Val35 (soft rear tyre). I found greater grip at maximum lean angle and I can’t wait to try the Val33 qualifying specification, as soon as the track conditions are there to make the most of it. I can’t sleep at night!”

2019 Moto3 World Champion Lorenzo Dalla Porta is amongst the most recognisable faces in the paddock. After nine years racing on Dunlop tyres in the Moto3 and Moto2 classes, he moves to CIV’s SuperSport 600NG class with Yamaha AltoGO. “I have raced in the MotoGP with Dunlop for several years, so I know them, and I have used in previous 600 tests the tyres that we will use this year in the CIV. I like them, and above all the team didn’t have to change the setting.”

Dunlop will work with every team in the five core classes, not only supplying tyres, but providing support and guidance from its crew of track support engineers. Each class has a bespoke set of tyres allowing for different strategies. For example, in the Superbike category, Dunlop is introducing a supersoft qualifying tyre alongside new and proven soft and medium race compounds. More than 40 riders will compete in the SuperSport 600NG class, and each of them will have the choice of three rear tyre specs.

Roberto Finetti, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe Marketing Manager: “We’re very happy with the results of the recent two-day test at Misano. We had the opportunity to collect feedback from riders and teams, which was overwhelmingly positive. We want to help all riders in every category of Dunlop CIV to reach their potential, which is why we’re committing to bringing new and varied tyres for each class. We can’t wait to get started for the first race!”
